Pinterest Love no. 3

Here are my favorite Pins this week.

1. Angelfood cake skewers

This looks amazing! I am totally going to serve these at my next party. And you're totally invited...

Stunning colors. I don't know if I could eat off of these because I wouldn't want to get them dirty. Plus I would be too busy staring at all the beautiful colors.

My son's 13th's birthday is coming up soon and I want to put together a candy bar for him and his friends. Do you think these are too girly? Will they care since they will be filled with candy?

They look so easy to make. This is definitely being added to my to do list.

4. Poppies!

I am in love with poppies right now! I just purchased some seeds and am going to try to grow some... wish me luck.

My all time favorite flower - the Hydrangea. This is being added to my to do list.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Old Record Cabinet

This might be my favorite piece so far. I bought this old record cabinet at the Goodwill Outlet probably a year ago. I was finally inspired to fix it up.

Before pictures:

I can just imagine this filled with old records.
Old dusty records...

I knew this cabinet needed new life. So I mixed up some MMS Milk Paint and got out my Polystain. Man I love that stuff.

Here are the after pictures:

And I added a hidden pop(!)of color.

I think it turned out wonderful. I finished it with a coat of Hemp Oil. Magic.

I used the canning jars to mix my paint in and decided to just let them dry. I love the colors. I added a little pearls and a little lace... lovely.

Wicker Seat Bench

I bought this bench off of craigslist. It had spent a lot of time outside but was generally in good condition. I had to glue the seat trim down and give it a good cleaning, that was easy enough.

I love the simple lines. Please ignore the unruly winter garden. As I've mentioned before I'm not a gardener and so while I'd love to blame it all on the winter, its mostly because I don't spend any time on it. Any way the bench was simple and boring before...

I mixed up some MMS Milk Paint

I tried a new technique for mixing it. I put equal parts of Kitchen Scale Milk Paint and water in a canning jar, made sure the lid was tight and shook. Really I had a dance party with the jar. Even my daughter Alexis played along. I mixed up Kitchen Scale and Grain Sack (for another project). We had a good time with it.

It took 2 coats plus some touch ups to get coverage on the bench. After it was dry I brushed on some hemp oil and called it good. Its still a little oily but I've read that it takes 30 days for it really to cure. Luckily I can use it while its curing.

Here's the results.

I haven't decided if I want to use 1 or 3 pillows. Actually I plan on making a couple small pillows to go with this bench but I haven't finished them yet. Right now the bench is in our entry way but I think when the weather gets better I'll put it on our front porch.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my wicker seat bench.

Pinterest Love no. 2

Here are my 5 favorite pins on Pinterest this week. Enjoy!

1. Be Brave Printable

This is one of my favorite songs. It is also one of my daughter's favorite songs. I love that. I love that it has a great message. OSP has made a wonderful free printable. I love that too!

2. Ladder Shelf
Isn't this so cool. I actually have an old ladder in the garage. This is getting added to my to do list. Thanks Refresh Restyle for the awesome tutorial and inspiration.

3. Beadboard Table Top Box

I just love the simplicity of this center piece. Happy at Home provided a great tutorial on how to make this box. I so want to be more comfortable with tools. This might be a good starter project.

4. Owl Coin Purse
I have not been able to get over my infatuation with owls. They are just so stinking cute! This pattern from Do Small Things With Love seems easy to do. I love it.

5. Mint Colored Reading Chair
What a wonderful chair, wonderful space, wonderful color combination. Classy Clutter did an amazing job classing it up.

Industrial Stenciled Stools

I finished up a fun pair of stools this weekend.

When we moved into our house we loved that the kitchen had a wonderful island and we planned to have stools for us all to sit around it. A wonderful friend gave us a couple stools that I love but I couldn't find another set to make it possible for all four of us to sit together. Five years later and we still fight over who gets to sit in the 2 stools we have. Then the other day I came across a pair of inexpensive plain bar stools on Craigslist and a really cool industrial stool tutorial on Pinterest. It was like fate. They aren't anything like my original stools but I still love them.

Here are the before pictures. Besides the great price ($15 for the pair) I love that they swivel.
I was really inspired by the stools done by a Vintage Industrial DIY Bar Stool Post by The DIY Village

I ordered my stencil from Just Stencils It took less than a week for me to receive them. You should have seen me when I took the stencil off and saw the beautiful clean paint line. I literally squealed with excitement.
I just love how they turned out.

And now we don't have to fight over stools.

Pinterest Favorites

I spend way too much time on Pinterest dreaming about the projects I could be doing if I didn't have to work all day, didn't have budget limitations, didn't have an already packed garage... I thought I would share the top 5 projects or inspirations I found on Pinterest this week. In no particular order ofcourse.

1. Terracotta Pots
So I'm not a gardener... I love gardens and dream about what could be if I magically grew a green thumb. These super cute upcycled terracotta pots are definitely on my to do list. I actually bought a milk-crate full of these at a local thriftstore recently. Hopefully soon you will see my version of this. If the picture link doesn't work you can see this project at Songbird.

2. Distressed Mantle
I just love this distressed yumminess... I recently purchased a freestanding oak mantle off Craigslist. I am totally going to do something like this to it. This project may have to wait until the weather gets warmer. Not sure I can wait... in the meantime I'm looking at inspiration on Pinterest. I know this link doesn't go anywhere but its still wonderful inspiration.

3. Style Inspiration
I just love this model's make up, hair, dress, and that amazing necklace... *sigh*

4. Turquoise Dining Table
I just love turquoise! That is it. Enjoy!

5. Simple Cupcake Liner Heart Wreath
Such a simple project and perfect for valentines (which is only a week away!). I fully intend on making this for my front door. Add it to my to do list.
