Old Record Cabinet

This might be my favorite piece so far. I bought this old record cabinet at the Goodwill Outlet probably a year ago. I was finally inspired to fix it up.

Before pictures:

I can just imagine this filled with old records.
Old dusty records...

I knew this cabinet needed new life. So I mixed up some MMS Milk Paint and got out my Polystain. Man I love that stuff.

Here are the after pictures:

And I added a hidden pop(!)of color.

I think it turned out wonderful. I finished it with a coat of Hemp Oil. Magic.

I used the canning jars to mix my paint in and decided to just let them dry. I love the colors. I added a little pearls and a little lace... lovely.

Industrial Stenciled Stools

I finished up a fun pair of stools this weekend.

When we moved into our house we loved that the kitchen had a wonderful island and we planned to have stools for us all to sit around it. A wonderful friend gave us a couple stools that I love but I couldn't find another set to make it possible for all four of us to sit together. Five years later and we still fight over who gets to sit in the 2 stools we have. Then the other day I came across a pair of inexpensive plain bar stools on Craigslist and a really cool industrial stool tutorial on Pinterest. It was like fate. They aren't anything like my original stools but I still love them.

Here are the before pictures. Besides the great price ($15 for the pair) I love that they swivel.
I was really inspired by the stools done by a Vintage Industrial DIY Bar Stool Post by The DIY Village

I ordered my stencil from Just Stencils It took less than a week for me to receive them. You should have seen me when I took the stencil off and saw the beautiful clean paint line. I literally squealed with excitement.
I just love how they turned out.

And now we don't have to fight over stools.

Dining Table Makeover

I love when I start a project and work hard on it, I love it when it all works out great and I end up with exactly what I'd imagined. It doesn't happen very often so when it does I want to do cartwheels. I received this table a few months ago. Notice the garage door is open and the sunshine. Don't mind the cars - I don't have much working space.

It came with four of these chairs.

It needed some love and affection. It had been sitting in the garage for a long time. So I cleaned it up and painted it with Maison Blanche Wrought Iron and Stained the top with a Polystain.

Look at those feet! Love that detail!

I just love how it all turned out.

Sofa Table updo

I generally like to fix up old vintage furniture but in this case I decided to fix up something because it was boring. I got this sofa table at a garage sale a few weeks ago. The family was moving and selling a lot of furniture and household items but this table was all that I went home with (besides a beanbag chair for Alexis).

Here's the before picture.

A close up of the table before my makeover

I cleaned it up and sanded off the glossy poly coat to expose the wood. Then I stained the top, painted the legs and then added a decorative drawer pull.

Here's the end result.

I hope you've enjoyed my sofa table up do. Its fitting nice in my entry way right now but it will be a piece that I'm selling. Let me know if you're interested.
